Privacy

Last updated 8 November 2026

Eat & Watch is a small, free, non-commercial site that shows hand-picked YouTube videos. This page explains what happens with your data when you use it.

The short version

Saved in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember two things. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.

NameWhat it's for
eatandwatch:historyThe videos you've been shown, for the History panel. Remove it with "Clear history".

YouTube

Videos are shown in YouTube's embedded player in its privacy-enhanced mode. When the player loads, your browser connects to Google, which can see your IP address and may store data on your device; cookies are set once you play a video. This is controlled by Google under Google's privacy policy. Video thumbnails on the page are loaded through our own server, not from Google.

Visit statistics

Umami tells us how many people visit, which sites they came from, their country and device type, and which buttons get used. It uses no cookies and doesn't store IP addresses, so we only see totals and can't identify anyone.

Contact form

If you write to us we receive your name, email, any YouTube link, and your message, and use them only to read your suggestion and reply. Messages are delivered to our inbox by Resend and deleted within 12 months, or sooner if you ask. Spam is blocked with Cloudflare Turnstile, which loads only when you open the form.

Hosting and where data goes

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the site and keep it secure. Cloudflare, Google, Umami and Resend may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. All connections to the site are encrypted.

Why we're allowed to

Under the GDPR, we process contact form messages because you chose to send them to us, and run hosting, spam protection and cookieless statistics because we have a legitimate interest in keeping a small site working, safe and improving.

Your rights

You can ask what data we have about you (in practice, only messages you sent), ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. You can clear everything the site saved in your browser through your browser settings.

Children

The site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact
